Illa J and Atamone are back with Written, a song that probes the artistic process, encouraging us to break through barriers and express our best selves. Yancey explores the question personally, reminiscing on formative experiences with his brother J Dilla and waxing poetically about his own creative process. All of it is delivered with a smokey vocal that melts over a sweet-like caramel guitar riff and a trap groove from the Montréal-based collaborator Atamone, who with Yancey form a prolific production duo.
